In order to reduce the electrical hazards that patients may be exposed to due weakness while receiving medical treatment, medical power supplies have rigorous rules for leakage current, isolation level, insulation and withstand voltage, noise, and more. Medical electronic devices are divided into the following types according to the different parts of the patient’s body that they come in contact with: Type B (Body), Type BF (Body Floating), and Type CF (Cardiac Floating). Leakage current is divided into three types: earth, enclosure, and patient leakage. Medical power supplies only need to be evaluated for earth and enclosure leakage in compliance with IEC60601-1 3rd Edition. Medical devices differ in size and complexity. Redundant operation is used in parallel connections of N Power Supplies (single operation when N = 1) of the same model, where a redundant Power Supply is added to the number of Power Supplies (N) in parallel operation (N+1), thereby improving the reliability of the system.
